q Make arrangements for a driver that can drive you home after your procedure.
q If you are being seen at one of our Endoscopy Centers, your driver will need to check in with you and make arrangements with the receptionist to pick you up after your procedure is completed.
Please read the following information very carefully. It contains information that is necessary to best prepare you for your upcoming test.
Four days prior to your procedure:
q If you are taking aspirin, aspirin containing products, anti inflammatory medications or blood thinners such as Coumadin or Plavix, you should discuss with your doctor whether or not you should stop these medications for four days prior to your procedure. If your specific medical condition allows, it is safest if performed off these medications.
q If you cannot stop these medications for the four days prior to your test, please contact our office and discuss with a triage nurse.
q If you are on Insulin, we ask that you hold your morning dose the day of your procedure. If you take insulin more than once daily, contact your primary care physician for further instructions regarding your insulin dose.
q Purchase a Fleet Prep Kit #3 and carefully read all the instructions. This may be purchased over the counter at your pharmacy. Follow the 48-hour instructions found in the kit.
q Purchase 4-6 cans of Boost Breeze at your pharmacy or grocery store.
2 days prior to your procedure:
8:00 a.m. Eat a light meal
1200 Noon Eat a light meal
6:00 p.m. Clear liquid dinner. Clear liquids include anything that you can see through, including beef and chicken bouillon, apple juice, white grape juics, soda, Jell-O or Popsicles (green or yellow only), and coffee. Avoid any liquid that is red, orange or purple in color.
Day prior to your procedure:
q For the entire day prior to your procedure, you should be on a clear liquid diet. Drink at least 8 ounces of clear liquids every hour during the waking part of your day.
q 2:00 p.m. Mix the Fleets Phospho Soda with 8 ounces of water, Sprite or 7-up, Gatorade , or ginger ale and drink. Follow with another 8 ounces of clear liquid. If you are unable to keep this down, please call the office or GI doctor on call for further instructions.
q 7:00 p.m. Take 4 Fleet Bisacodyl Tablest in your FLeets Prep Kit #3.
q Continue to drink 8 ounces of clear liquids hourly until midnight.
Day of your procedure:
q You should have nothing to eat or drink _____ hours prior to your procedure.
q One hour prior to leaving for your procedure, use the Biscodyl enema. Shake the bottle up, remove the protective, tip, lie on your left side and insert the enema tip into your rectum and squeeze bottle until all the fluid is expelled. Hold for 15 minutes if possible, then expel.
